Daily Diamond Challenge 13 April 30, 2021 - Empires and Puzzles

 Yesterday's Empires and Puzzles Daily Diamond Challenge problem: 

My solution: 

Pop the purple diamond, and you get all the reds to line up for a nice 5-line diamond. 

Yes, this is something I spotted before I popped the purple diamond, so it was intentional and not just a coincidence of making the fun move of popping the diamond. Remember that this exercise is about seeing the board for diamonds, but use your own judgment during gameplay to decide if making this particular move is the right one for you.

Daily Diamond Challenge 11 April 28, 2021 - Empires and Puzzles

My solution: 

There are multiple solutions here, and they can result in either a yellow diamond or a green diamond. I opted for the yellow diamond by making the green three match: move the purple diamond and the green tile so the yellows cascade into a T shape. 

Why is there a yellow diamond already in the picture? After I made the green match, two yellows cascaded at the bottom center in the spots where a purple and red tile are and made an L-shaped diamond. Luckily! The resulting diamond cascaded into the spot you see in the screenshot above; there was a 40% chance that the diamond would have landed either in the bottom third or bottom fourth column and ruined the original diamond I was trying to make. 

The other possibility is a green diamond. Make a yellow match by moving the regular purple tile down. That creates the same T shape for greens as you see for yellows in my solution. 

If you're a 3-2 player and see this combination when you brought Nature and Holy heroes, you'd be ecstatic at this board.

Daily Diamond Challenge 10 April 27, 2021 - Empires and Puzzles

My solution: 

There are two possible solutions here, and both involve simply popping the yellow diamond. You can pop the yellow diamond directly (which is what I did here), or you can make the three-match into the yellow diamond by moving the red and yellow tiles in the center of the board. Both result in a cascaded purple diamond that can be seen even before popping the yellow diamond.

Daily Diamond Challenge 9 April 26, 2021 - Empires and Puzzles

Yesterday's Empires and Puzzles Daily Diamond Challenge:

My solution:  

Make the green match in the middle of the board. You are all set up for an L-shaped yellow diamond. This particular set up resulted in a friendly cascade that also created a blue diamond, but because it wasn't on the board at the time of the original screenshot, it doesn't count as a solution for the purpose of this exercise. We all play percentages, but the point here is to train your eyes to see diamonds that are currently on the board so you don't have to rely on the 20% chance that the tile you need will show up in the right place.

Today's problem: See if you can spot the diamond below. There may be more than one, but there is definitely at least one that is currently on the board.  

Solution tomorrow. I should also pay attention to when I take these screenshots so that I avoid taking them when the game's suggested match starts popping out on the screen.

Revisiting Daily Diamond Challenge 4 - Empires and Puzzles

 Let's take another look at this problem and solution: 

It was pointed out to me that there is another way to form a yellow diamond. Instead of matching the green tiles in the bottom right corner, you can match the purple tiles toward the center of the board to bring up the yellow tile. That creates a straight line diamond as opposed to the L-shaped one that my solution tried. 

Unfortunately, it suffers from the same potential to be ruined by a three-match if a yellow tile cascades up. It is fun to see that possibility though. Perhaps if this were a raid board, you'd decide to make one match or another depending on which enemy heroes you want to avoid charging up.

Pop the blue diamond without popping the yellow dragon bomb. That single purple tile under the blue diamond is all you need to form the purple diamond.

I love the Mythic Titan - Empires and Puzzles

Alliance war. Challenge events. Ninja Tower. Seasonal events. Titan hunts. Just a smattering of the things that Empires and Puzzles offers, and yet this really new event is my favorite: Mythic Titan. 

I understand the first few Mythic Titans were buggy. One of my alliance mates had a hard time accessing the event to be able to even play it. Then there was the fact that everyone within the various loot tiers literally got the same loot instead of randomized loot. 

Those are all correctible problems. I love the actual event of the Mythic Titan itself. 

I love the global counter. I think this is the only thing currently in the game where, in a sense, it's a globally collaborative effort to pile up as much damage as possible. Yes, individual players and alliances are competing against each other for prizes, but again, what other aspect of the game is a globally collaborative effort like the Mythic Titan?  

I do wish there were something everyone could earn if the global counter reaches certain milestones. Maybe now that we've gone through one cycle through all the elements and all the different abilities, they can institute it knowing what the players can accomplish globally for each Mythic Titan—Jormungandr numbers were way down because of the resistance to any kind of defense ailments.

I really like the fact that all seven columns hit the Mythic Titan. Yes, it stings when the weak spot is on the sides because it's hard to get a stun on the edges, even with Tornadoes, Hurricanes, and Scrolls of Alteration. But that means every good tile inflicts big damage. I wish this element could be incorporated in the regular titan hunts somehow; maybe change it up for Rare Titans so that those can get hit across all seven columns. 

That first hit where I use my best team to try to get top 1% is some of the most fun two and a half minutes I have every month in this game.

Make the purple match across the middle. Make the green match in the middle. 

No diamond image again today because a red tile came up from the bottom and ruined the potential diamond. Them's the breaks in the game sometimes.

Daily Diamond Challenge 5 April 22, 2021 - Empires and Puzzles

My solution:  

Move the green tile toward bottom center down for the three match. Hopefully a yellow tile doesn't come up and ruin the diamond. 

The yellow tile didn't show up to ruin the diamond, but unfortunately, my fat finger did! It didn't make the obvious move, so I don't have a screenshot to share with the completed diamond.

Revisiting Daily Diamond Challenge 1 from April 18, 2021 - Empires and Puzzles

Ultra from the Empires and Puzzles Community Forum posted a slightly different solution to my first Daily Diamond Challenge. 

Here's the problem again: 

My solution (which is the move I ultimately made) was to bring down the blue tile up top to create the dragon bomb. The resulting cascade creates a yellow diamond. 

Ultra pointed out that instead of making the dragon bomb, you can also just move the blue tile in the second row over to the right to create a regular three-match, and you get the same result.

Make the red match by moving the top red tile down. That brings the purple tiles in perfect alignment to make a diamond.

Daily Diamond Challenge 3 April 20, 2021 - Empires and Puzzles

Yesterday's Empires and Puzzles Daily Diamond Challenge problem: 

And my solution: 

Make the yellow match in the middle column to bring up the red tile to the second row. Follow it up by making the purple dragon bomb in the bottom row. Boom, there's your diamond. 

There are a few other things I want to point out. In the original image, I was anticipating making the purple match in the bottom left corner to make the diamond—in fact, that's the match I saw at first when I saw the red diamond. The risk in making that move, however, is that a red tile comes up to make a three-match and end up ruining the diamond you're trying to create. 

In the same vein, it's possible to make the blue match toward the middle of the board and bring up the purple tiles to create a combo. Again, however, there's a risk in having those reds taken out by an extra red tile to create a three-match.

I lucked out in this instance by having a purple tile come up after the yellow match. Making the purple dragon bomb instead of my original match locks that column up, so there's no risk of those red tiles getting matched off the board and ruining the diamond.

A few others have mentioned an alternative solution: Match the purples on the right side, and you're set up for a yellow diamond in the next move. Nice job, viewers! 

I've stripped these boards from context because 1) when I saw Empires and Puzzles Books on Youtube do these kinds of videos, it was kind of obvious what colors you're looking for a diamond on, so it made the challenge a bit easier and 2) as can be seen in today's answers, there can sometimes be more than one solution! Hopefully, these will train you to see the boards differently and be able to spot diamonds more than one move away. 

As for this board: I took a mono red team, so I was heavily invested in making that red diamond!

Welcome to Dawn's Empires and Puzzles

This is the blog I wish I started writing when I was a mid-game player in Empires and Puzzles. Plenty of advice on the internet for this game is geared toward top end players, especially as it relates to Legendary heroes and which to ascend to max.
